Devil and Beaut Scenery

One of the most amazing place I have travelled while I'm here , is maybe this place. Well, when I first came to this country, trully I felt dissapointed of what this land can offer. How can't I if most of this country's landscape is like the picture below

or even worse. How can you blame them, the country is known to be placed in the driest landmass on the earth, no wonda..!

However, after I travel much further from the city I reside, I found out that this land actually have much more to offer than just the dry farm fields. Even in the dryness of the dessert land there are beauties.

But this place I visited is far from being dry. The landscape of this sstate is totally different from its fellow states of this country. Well how I wouldn't open up my jaw when viewing something like the picture below.



This land offers much more beauty than just that. But I guess you can see for yourself from their tourism website, so I won't bother to show other pictures of this land's landscape.

This place is also home of one unique animal that has become the cartoon figure in Warner Brother's Looney Toons. Anybody like Tazz??? Well I was lucky to be able catch the picture of this animal in its real habitat.

Cute, isn't it? But not until you hear it screams. It can make your ear deaf if you get too close while it scream. No wonder it is called the devil of this land.

In other time, while me and my friends are on my way there, we saw this beautiful house full of lights that we decided to stop and take a picture. It was Christmas time and the lights were put up to celebrate this. But may be the owner of the house just too carried away, anyway it was beautiful.

Rencana ngabisin duwit

Waaaaaaaaaaaaa, rasanya pengen teriak supaya orang sekota tau, gimana leganya gue setelah menyerahkan tugas terakhir untuk semester ini. Rasanya udah jadi kaya Son go ku yang berhasil ngancurin gunung essay. Fuih, dua puluh ribu kata untuk semester ini (ditambah beberapa kali presentasi) berhasil gue lewati, tapi nggak tau selamat apa nggak. Cuma sekarang gue malah jadi bingung, sekarang ada waktu dua bulan liburan mau kemana ya....?

Selama hampir satu setengah tahun gue disini, rasanya hampir semua tempat yang esensial di negeri ini udah gue jelajahin. Tapi emang sebelum ini karena gue punya temen yang mau ngajak atawa diajak jalan2 ke tempat2 yang super aneh sekalipun (kebanyakan sih temen gue yang punya ide). Sayang dia udah pulang ke negeri tercinta.

Sekarang gue nih yang harus kreatif nyari tempat2 yang super aneh, kalo nggak bisa mati bosen. Udah jadi misi gue sejak gue pertama kesini buat jelajahin ini negeri, biar gak mati penasaran kalo gue udah pulang nanti.

Architecture in where....?

Ada yang pernah denger grup band yang namanya Architecture in Helsinki nggak? Grup yang biasa disingkat AIH adalah salah satu grup lokal yang berasal dari sini, yang kabarnya berhasil menembus pasar Amrik. Hmm sounds cool!!??

Tapi biarpun udah berhasil ke amrik, grup ini rada2 belum di kenal di kancah permusikan dunia. Jangankan dunia, di orang2 kota ini aja jarang yang pernah denger namanya? Aliran musik AIH ini emang rada2 unik dan agak asing buat mereka2 yang biasa ngedengerin pop. Jadi bisa dibayangkan betapa herannya gue waktu seorang teman dari kampung halaman ngimel minta info tentang band ini, gue aja yang disini juga gak pernah denger.

Di kalangan teman2, gue dikenal sebagai penggemar musik-musik "aneh" dan unik, (pernah gue dihujat gara2 selalu mendengarkan CD Bjork :) ), tapi emang belum ada apa2nya sih dibanding teman satu kampung halaman ini. So gue tertarik deh untuk nyari tau tentang grup ini, dan alhamdulillah berhasil mendapatkan cd AIH di sebuah toko musik yang memang khusus menjual cd-cd musik untuk collector items . Hmmm, I think this group is not bad, not bad at all....

Musik2 AIH sebenarnya bisa dibilang sangat sederhana, bahkan terlalu sederhana untuk sebuah band yang beranggotakan 8 orang!! Sound yang mereka hasilkan sangat irit sehingga kalau kita tidak lihat kover dalamnya mungkin kita menyangka band ini cuma terdiri dari 3 sampai 4 orang saja. Tapi sound yang mereka hasilkan memang unik dan enak untuk dinikmati.

Baidewai, musik2 mereka tidak cukup "aneh" kok sehingga bisa bikin gue dihujat oleh temen2... :)

Arts all over

Well, I'm afraid I will turn this blog into a photoblog... shame on me for my lack of interest to write. Having said that, the photos I post here are also part of my experience living in this city. I only have one more year to go before they kick me out of here, back to my beloved hometown.

Last week I took a walk in the southern side of the city. The area is quite new, and I think it will become a new tourist precinct (not that this city doesn't have many of them). What attracted me so much was the many unique art pieces there. This area have been an open air art museum if you can say that. But many of this arts are for sale. Here are a couple of arts shown there.

What's that on the tree? Is it a bird? Is it a fruit? No, it's a cow!

How's the connection between turtle and the world? Very fragile.

Quite unique eh? By the way, the turtle is for sale, but the cow's not. I think because the cow has become a landmark of the area.

Pizza from Heaven

Baru-baru ini kami jalan ke sebuah kota kecil di suburb. Penduduk kota tersebut mengklaim dirinya sebagai orang-orang yang relijius (at least that was what they wrote on their brochure..). Saking relijiusnya, kota tersebut bahkan punya sebuah restoran Pancake Pizza yang serasa surga... Well, see for your self.

Jika anda ingin segera ke surga, tidak ada salahnya mampir ke tempat ini.
